Caroline was born in western Montana and grew up in the west and Midwest. Even after leaving the mountains of Montana her connection still remains strong. Caroline spent her early years making things out of all kinds of natural materials, discovering an inherent dialogue between herself and the world around her.

 

In 1985, after spending a year at Montana State University Caroline continued her education and graduated with a BFA in sculpture and printmaking from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. During this time she also studied textile design and fabrication at The Nova Scotia College of Art And Design.
